What would you DO with freedom?

Freedom is my ultimate core desired feeling. Freedom is liberation. With freedom you get CHOICES. For as long I can remember I’ve always been a strong advocate for the creation of your own destiny. I don’t like to be told what to do. Who is anyway? My anti-9-5 views were formed long before I understood what it really means to be free.

  • To be able to go shopping when the shops are empty
  • To go skiing in perfect conditions – when everyone else is at work
  • To visit theme parks when they’re empty
  • To sit on the beach, laptop on my lap, with no one in sight for kilometres

Freedom to me equals happiness.

I’m in business to create freedom.

Employment has never given me the choices I have today. If a boss commanded my time I wouldn’t be able to choose my days off. Or when I want to travel, holiday, sleep, rest.

I also wouldn’t be able to make spontaneous decisions about taking road trips, going to the cinema, switching off my phone at 9am, choosing not to accept a client, eating breakfast at 10pm and dinner at 5am…

What is it you want most in your life?

Maybe you strive to be a mama. Or you want to climb Mt. Everest. Or win a cooking competition. Or maybe you want to travel to every country on this planet, like Chris Guillebeau.

It’s possible you want all of the above – and so much more. And why not. You CAN design your life by listening to your feelings. Feelings govern your decisions. They guide your impulses and make you hand over your credit card details.

And because you’re human, chances are your core desired feelings involve values that lead to your happiness.

A sure fire way to know you’ve arrived.

I’ve had an interesting discussion with my hubby last night. We talked about freedom. He asked me, “How do you define freedom, really?”

Great question John. My answer was, “My definition of freedom is knowing I can make choices about how I want to live my life, where I live, and whom I work with.”

This is my definition of freedom + independence. Yours may differ to suit your values + life.

My Desire Map

After reading Danielle’s Desire Map book I worked out my CDFs. I then wrote them on a big piece of butcher’s paper and stuck them on my bedroom wall, and on the wall of my creative nook. My CDFs serve as my business compass. They tell me whether I’m on track, or whether I’m being sidetracked by a feeling that has no place in my life – such as anger or jealousy.

Instead of focusing on the big fat $500K dollar as my next income goal, I now focus on the CDFs. It’s freaking liberation.

So tell me, what are your core desired feelings gorgeous?

Do you chase the “thing,” the shiny object. Or do you chase the high you get when you experience a specific feeling?

I want to hear your thoughts. And if you loved this post please tweet it, share it on Facebook, pin it or do all of the above and then come say hello below.

I want to see you shine your magic. Show me!

    Oh heck yeah!
While freedom isn’t one of my core desires…I know that it is an undercurrent… bubbling under my desire of feeling power-full and like a driving bass guitar.

Yes…choices. Your post fired me up. That is what I am aiming for…to be able to choose…

    Thank you!

    • My pleasure Lisa, I believe ultimately we all strive for freedom and choices one way or another – especially if we are aware of the choices we have in life.

I want to see you roar girl! LOL.

“Monika Mundell is an expert persuasion strategist and writer. She made us a lot of money. We recommend her all over the place. What we love about Monika: she writes quickly, well, and gets fantastic results. She’s a perfectionist who’ll look after your business as if it’s her own.”

“Monika is awesome! She got us a whopping 55% opt-in rate on a landing page and 31.5% conversion to sales on a sales letter. This is outstanding in the industry. We made tens of thousands of dollars thanks to her compelling writing skills.”

Nika blew me away with the quality and emotional impact of her copy. She is a wonderfully gifted artisan, a true wordsmith who intuitively grasped what I was trying to communicate on my own (with so much struggle). Now I know first hand why everyone sings Nika’s praises because I’ve joined her fan club too.”

“Monika WOWed me from the first word! Now I know the true value of a great copywriter! Far out!!! She really got me. She gets double brownie points because I’m usually not your copy-loving gal. Her writing is entertaining, sassy, and compelling. I want to lock her in my office, throw away the key and make her my personal copywriting slave. She’s THAT awesome. All round.”
