Tools that Help Me Save a Lot of Time and Hassles

The following tools are part and parcel of my everyday business. To be honest, I couldn’t imagine living without them. I’m a big believer in creating simplified systems to do business. Cloud-based file storage is high on my list of being one of the best inventions on the Internet. Gone are the days when you had to store every file on your Mac/PC. Today you can store your files in the cloud, making them accessible from any Internet-connected PC/Mac or smartphone worldwide.

Do You Have Trouble Setting Your Fees?

Most new copywriters struggle to find their sweet spot when setting their service fees. Unless you have years of experience and a good understanding of your market/niche it is hard to determine where you can fit in to take your slice of the pie. Fear no more. The following resources will help you on your way:

Invoicing Clients

Invoicing clients will be an aspect of your business that you need to manage well, unless you want to chase money for the rest of your life. Get organized early and you’ll neve have to worry about being paid on time. The following tools will have you covered, depending what your needs are:

For the Heart and the Soul

copywriting toolsEvery self-employed copywriter/freelance writer has some business tools they simply don’t want to live without. For me these are my trusted MacBookPro and my collection of Moleskine notebooks. I don’t do online calendars, nor do I particularly care about digital notes. As much as I love the cloud for storage purposes, I’m very much a pen and paper girl when it comes to note taking, brainstorming and mind mapping. I love the tactile feeling of Moleskines. I’m also a doodler and can be frequently found doodling in my Moleskines to brainstorm new ideas.

My MBP has been a joy to work with ever since I made the decision to switch from Windows. I recently decided to invest into a baby MacBook Air (11″) for travel purposes. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time. My new “baby” is lightweight, fits into a small backpack. Yet it is big enough to allow me to write while on the road, thanks to its near full size keyboard.

To say I’m in love with my new gadget is an understatement. :)

Another gadget that is close to my heart and soul because it’s just so damn sexy and useful is my iPhone. Yep. I admit it. I’m an Apple fan, and I’m loving their sleek designs and functional toys. They allow me to enjoy my business and it doesn’t even feel like work. Why would it when you’ve got groovy tools to play with?!
